One in five gone: Monday.com cuts 620 jobs in its rush to become AI-first
Monday.com is cutting about 20% of its workforce, roughly 620 jobs, in a restructuring it began on 22 July 2026. In a filing with the US Securities and Exchange Commission the company said the plan is meant "to align the Company's organizational structure with its strategic focus on the AI Work Platform" and to support "a leaner, more focused operating model", and that it expects to keep hiring in key areas through 2026. Co-founders Roy Mann and Eran Zinman told staff it was the hardest decision in the company's history. "Over the past nine months, we have shifted our core vision, moving from managing work to doing the work for our customers, with people and AI agents working together in one workspace," they wrote. "The organization we built for our previous chapter is not the organization that fits the new AI era." The company was direct about what the cut is not. Asked internally whether its own AI tools had made employees unnecessary, it answered: "No. While we are seeing significant value from AI internally, this decision was not made to reduce costs or replace people with AI." It said improving margins was not the purpose and that most of the savings will be reinvested in people, products and AI. Management layers are being flattened and teams made smaller.
