Fiverr, the Israeli freelance marketplace, told staff on 15 September 2025 that it would part ways with "approximately 250 team members across the different departments". The letter from chief executive Micha Kaufman, filed with the SEC, gives the reason in his own words: "Over the past year, we have implemented many AI projects across our organization. We've witnessed firsthand how AI can automate and streamline processes, liberate humans from manual and tedious tasks, and unlock capabilities that were historically not possible or too expensive. As we evaluate what has been done and what can be done, we believe we don't need as many people to operate the existing business." He points to customer support as one place it has already happened, and describes the goal as "an AI-first company that's leaner, faster" with "a smaller team, each with substantially greater productivity, and far fewer management layers." Fiverr's own business is selling the work of freelancers, many of whom compete with the same tools. Its chief executive has now said the same of his staff.
