Trinity Health is permanently eliminating 557 information technology positions at its Livonia, Michigan headquarters, moving the work to an external technology partner. The Michigan Department of Labor received a WARN notice on September 4, 2026, with separations staged between October 25 and November 29. The health system justified the move in a June 18 statement citing the accelerating pace of healthcare technology, not cost reduction or AI. However, the class-action firm Strauss Borrelli PLLC opened a WARN Act investigation the same day the notice was filed, questioning whether employees scheduled for October 25 received the federally required 60 calendar days of notice. The affected roles include service desk support, database administrators, engineers, and imaging analysts. Trinity Health has not named the incoming vendor and confirmed that clinical roles remain unaffected. This marks the second major outsourcing by Trinity Health in 2026, part of a broader pattern among U.S. health systems relocating IT functions to external partners.

The WARN timing is messy but honestly I'm more curious where these 557 jobs are actually going. US vendor? offshore? mix of both?
