Oracle has told California it will cut 441 jobs in Redwood City, Santa Clara and Pleasanton on 13 November, the state's WARN list shows
Oracle America filed three WARN notices with California's Employment Development Department on 14 September 2026, received the following day, for permanent layoffs taking effect on 13 November: 279 at its headquarters campus at 500 Oracle Parkway in Redwood City, 99 at 4230 Leonard Stocking Drive in Santa Clara, and 63 at the Pleasanton campus on Owens Drive. That is 441 positions in the Bay Area, listed on the state's current WARN report. The notices give no reason; a WARN filing records the numbers, the sites and the date and nothing else, and California's new rule requiring employers to flag AI-caused layoffs does not take effect until January 2027. The reason is on the record elsewhere. Oracle's annual report for the year to 31 May 2026 disclosed that its headcount fell by about 21,000, nearly 13 percent, and tied the reduction to the "adoption and deployment of AI technologies across our operations"; that figure is already in this site's ledger and these 441 are a slice of what follows it, not an addition. The California notices come on top of the 359 jobs Oracle told Washington state about in September. The New York Post, which surfaced the filing on 2 October, set it against a Bay Area in which venture capital took in 92 billion dollars last year, 83 percent of it for AI companies, while the region lost 13,100 jobs, according to Joint Venture Silicon Valley's 2026 Index.
