Livspace, the Bengaluru-based home-interiors company backed by KKR, let go of about 1,000 employees, roughly 12 percent of its workforce, over the six months to February 2026, a company spokesperson confirmed. Co-founder Saurabh Jain left at the same time. The spokesperson's statement attributes the cuts to what the software now does: "In many areas, tasks that were previously manual are now handled by intelligent systems, while our existing teams are seeing their productivity supercharged." The company said AI agents and automation had been brought into sales, operations, design and marketing, and added: "We are choosing to lean into the future of work rather than clinging to legacy operational models." It also called the move a strategic reallocation of resources, not a reactive cost cut. Livspace is not a software company. It designs and fits out homes, and the roles it describes sit between the customer and the contractor. It is one of the larger AI-attributed cuts an Indian employer has put its name to.
