Booksy, the beauty and wellness booking app, is laying off about 200 people, roughly 20 percent of its staff, in job cuts its chief executive ties to an AI-first vision. Co-founder and chief executive Stefan Batory told employees on 10 September 2026 that the reduction covers "every business area and market", and published the memo on LinkedIn the same day. His reasons: "We are accelerating new ways of working and adopting AI-driven innovations that help us better serve our customers. The changes today will restructure Booksy's teams to reflect this focused approach, driven by simplification and enabled by technology." He listed three priorities, "deepening our focus on core markets, increasing our investment in self-service tools, and expediting how we adapt to AI change", and wrote that "being able to work towards our AI-first vision for years to come means making tough decisions now". The memo never says AI is doing the work of the people who are leaving, which is why these layoffs are recorded as an article and not as an AI job loss in the tracker. Two details from the Polish press make the cut stand out. Booksy is not short of money: Batory told Forbes Polska a week earlier that the company has been profitable for three years, and Booksy International reported 547 million zloty in revenue and 37 million zloty in profit for 2025. And while it cuts headcount, the company is advertising AI roles such as "AI Native Software Engineer" and "People Systems & Automation Engineer". Booksy serves more than 346,000 salons and other providers in over 50 countries; the United States, Spain and Poland make up about 90 percent of its business. The employer-attributed AI job cuts on record are in the AI layoffs tracker on this site.
