On the Beach cut 107 jobs, more than a fifth of its staff, after its own consultation, and the UK online holiday retailer says technology now automates the processes those people handled. A spokesperson confirmed on 6 August 2026 that "following the consultation process, 107 roles have been made redundant" and that "investment in technology has enabled us to automate and streamline a number of processes", Travel Weekly reported. No one was redeployed into another role. When the 45-day consultation opened on 26 March, chief executive Shaun Morton said: "As we continue to invest in technology to support our future growth, some of our processes can now be automated or streamlined. As a result, we are proposing changes which may put some roles at risk." The group employed 505 people at 30 September 2025. The company's statements say automation rather than naming AI, and they pair it with streamlining, so the cut is not only automation; demand also fell sharply this spring, and on 12 March, after conflict broke out in Iran, the company briefly suspended its profit guidance. The job cuts are counted in the AI layoffs tracker on this site because the employer itself says technology now does the work of the roles it removed.
