In the employer's own words: set out by the company in a press release. This cut has not happened yet and is not counted in the verified job-loss totals. Generali Deutschland, the German arm of the Italian insurer, said on 23 October 2026 that it plans to reduce work amounting to 800 jobs by the end of 2030, out of about 9,100 staff. The company's own press release gives the reason: "Durch Investitionen in technologischen Fortschritt und die damit verbundenen Produktivitätssteigerungen" (through investments in technological progress and the productivity gains that come with them). The same release says it is investing a three-digit million euro sum in modernising its IT, digitalisation and artificial intelligence. It does not say AI alone will do the work, and other parts of the plan point elsewhere: some activities are to be handed to specialised outside partners, and offices in Aachen, Nuremberg and Stuttgart are to be merged into Cologne, Munich and Karlsruhe. The reduction is to come mainly from voluntary early-retirement schemes, upcoming retirements and natural attrition, with job and site guarantees until the end of 2030, while the company hires people with new skills. The target runs to 2030, so these jobs have not gone yet.
