F-Secure layoffs: the Finnish cybersecurity firm plans up to 145 job cuts as it moves to AI-native ways of working
F-Secure plans to cut up to 145 jobs, about a quarter of its 597 staff, as it renews its operating model around AI-native ways of working, the Finnish company said on 1 October 2026. The cybersecurity firm started change negotiations covering all 597 employees, with a maximum of 58 roles going in Finland and 87 in other countries, and expects gross annual savings of around EUR 13 million. Its stock-exchange release says the renewal is meant to help it respond to customers "as AI reshapes the market" and that it is extending AI-native ways of working across the organisation, with AI increasingly supporting planning and execution. Chief executive Timo Laaksonen said: "AI is changing the way we work and operate, as well as the threats we defend against." F-Secure says part of the savings will go back into growth, including new roles, technology and products, and that new positions are expected to open if the plan goes ahead. The release never says AI is doing the work of the roles being cut, so this is a dispatch rather than an entry in our AI layoffs tracker. It is one of the clearest cases yet of a company putting AI at the centre of a restructuring announcement while stopping short of saying the technology replaces the people who leave.
