Arcadis plans to cut about 1,000 overhead roles in 2027 under a strategy built on AI releasing capacity
In the employer's own words: set out by the company in its published strategy. This cut has not happened yet and is not counted in the verified job-loss totals.
Arcadis's 2027-2029 strategy, published on 29 September 2026, targets a reduction of about 1,000 full-time-equivalent positions as overhead rightsizing in 2027, while it keeps hiring in growth areas. The same strategy says the firm is embedding AI and digital directly into how it delivers, and that AI, automation and standardisation will release capacity for higher-value work. Arcadis does not say in so many words that AI is why the 1,000 roles go; the two statements sit side by side in one plan. The firm is also selling most of its architecture business and its China operations. The reduction is scheduled for 2027, so nothing has happened yet.
