Oracle began cutting jobs in India on September 15, 2026, a day after the round opened in the United States, with product engineering teams bearing the brunt while support and consulting saw fewer cuts, Moneycontrol reported from company sources. The India figure could not be independently confirmed; earlier internal estimates put it close to 3,000, against a global round employees estimate at 7,000 to 10,000. Global headcount had fallen by at least 5,000 to 6,000 over the weekend, one source said. Oracle's termination email told staff their roles were eliminated "as part of a broader organisational change" after considering its "current business needs", with computer, email and file access deactivated the same day. Oracle blamed no AI to the people it let go. Its 10-Q filed on September 11 is where the AI language sits: the 2026 restructuring plan pursues efficiencies "including through the adoption and integration of artificial intelligence technologies across certain functions", and management added about $700 million to that plan after August 31. Quarterly capital spending was $28.5 billion, more than triple a year earlier.
