Acrisure, the Grand Rapids insurance brokerage and fintech, told staff on 20 May 2026 that it is cutting about 2,250 roles, 11 percent of its workforce, in phases running into 2027 and mostly in the United States. The attribution is in chief executive Greg Williams's own letter to employees, quoted by local stations WWMT and FOX 17, the latter saying it had confirmed the document. "We will be reducing our headcount by approximately 2,250 roles," he wrote, in the ninth paragraph of an email that opened with the company's successes. The reason he gave: "Advances in technology, AI, and digital platforms are fundamentally changing how businesses operate, how clients expect to be served, and how value is created." He went on: "We have seen client-oriented work that took days or weeks reduced to minutes. We need more of this thinking and broader adoption across the company." And: "Our future is not merely about doing the same work in a different structure... it's about changing how work gets done." It is the company's second round in seven months; in October 2025 it cut about 400 accounting jobs in a shift toward technology and automation. Five days before the letter, Acrisure opened a 12,000-seat amphitheatre carrying its name, bought with a 30 million dollar gift. Insurance has said little about AI and jobs so far. This is a large broker saying it in writing.
